Name: Sol

Date of Birth: September 27th

Additional Information: Born and raised in the Bronx, this Latin beauty was blessed to have supportive parents who exposed her to music, especially since birth. She remembers her parent's late night parties with her father, Julio playing the Congas and her mother, Santa dancing to the rhythm. Julio whose first break in the 70's, was to record an album as a percussionist, lived for Salsa Music. He knew by listening to an album, who was who, from the vocalist to the Bongo player. Her parents had a tremendous influence on Sol's musical career. Her first entry into the entertainment industry was at the age of 9 when a recruiter held auditions at her neighbourhood, which she attended and became a finalist for. This would be her very first big break. Sol was asked to perform for a charity event in Central Park, as an opening act for Brenda K. Starr, Coro, Cynthia & Fat Boys, which were all very popular in the 1980's. This would be the match that lit the fire for Sol!

Sol's passion only became more intense when she attended Junior High School for the performing arts Rafael Hernandez. She found that although R&B & Freestyle were to her liking, that something was missing. One day, while at a NYC nightclub, she witnessed the performance of Frankie Ruiz and Los Hermanos Colón. At that point, she felt like she found herself. This is what I was missing? Sol claims she knew right then and there that her passion for music was in Salsa Music! The rhythm, the dance, the sound, the live music! A few years later, Los Hermanos Colón asked if she would record a song in their album. Sol recorded "Cuando Una Mujer", a song she fell in love with, interpreted by Melina Leon. Now signed to Ernie Acevedo of Muziq Inc. Records and a new album, Sol hopes to present her own positive outlook on life and to help bring a unity amongst Latinos through her music.
