Stuck in the Middle With You, A Memoir of Parenting in Three Genders by Jennifer Finney Boylan

With the emergence of our more tolerating and accepting world, there have been a slew of books on transgender lifestyles coming out to help people get a deeper look at what it’s like through the eyes of a transgender person. One of these books is Stuck in the Middle With You, A Memoir of Parenting in Three Genders by Jennifer Finney Boylan. This memoir is incredibly touching and gives takes us into her life as she fathers two sons with her wife, and her transition into being a mother to her children. The memoir is incredibly intoxicating and brave, as Boylan allows us deep into her most intimate thoughts as she undergoes serious life changes including coming out to her wife and the couple’s decision to stay together throughout the transformation. In this excerpt from her book Boylan writes, “Most of the time I just have to resign myself to the fact that this whole business is beyond the comprehension of most straight people. If you’re not trans, you’re free from thinking about what gender you are in the same way that white people in America are generally free from having to think about what race they are.” The book is absolutely touching and takes us deeper than we had ever gone before. A must read!
